Final Service at Jubilee House
May 19, 2012
This season in the life of Jubilee Church has been a busy one as we have seen God’s goodness at every stage. After growing to a stage where Jubilee House no longer accommodated us, some time ago, we embarked on an extensive search to find more suitable premises. We felt God’s prompting to be a ‘city on a hill’ somewhere that was visible in the city, easy to get to and overcame the city’s west/east divide. This led us to look at venues in the city centre. After a long 2 year process we have recently completed the purchase of the former Central Methodist Hall on King Edward Street.
We are overwhelmed by God’s blessing on us and have many people to thank for all the time and effort they have given to seeing the sale through. Over the last 2 weeks we have been decorating in earnest to get it ready for the church to start meeting there on a Sunday Morning. Our first service will take place there Sunday 27th May 10:30am. It will be an exciting time in the life of the church and we hope that you can join us.
This means that this coming Sunday (20th) will be our last at Jubilee House and we will be celebrating with 5 baptisms! Again, this is another great opportunity to celebrate together all that God is doing amongst us. I hope you can make it.
Jubilee House has served us well over the short years we have been there and we are very thankful to God and its former owners for its provision. We will continue to own the building and are delighted that 2 churches will now be using it on a Sunday! We will use it as a resource in the local community and its facilities will also be available for hire. If you, or someone you know is interested in renting it, or a part of it please contact us.
Welcome

Jubilee Church is in Hull because God loves this city and it’s people. We believe that as a great city it should have both large and influential churches in and around it. Despite the often negative press, we have discovered a region full of life, passion, and a people whose desire is to be proud of where they come from. Our vision is to contribute fully to the life and culture of communities in and around Hull.
Jubilee Church Hull is a fun and friendly Church with a vision to make a difference. We meet in Hull every Sunday, and across the region in mid-week small groups. We want everyone who comes into contact with us to feel welcomed, loved, encouraged and connected into what God is doing in this amazing place. Please enjoy looking through our website at all the ways we are seeking to do this, and how you might be involved in the future.

A large part of our vision at Jubilee is to help start churches across our region and beyond. Therefore Jubilee is giving support and oversight of the starting of the first Newfrontiers church in Norway. Steve Whittington is in regular contact with John and Catherine who lead this church plant as well as visiting Oslo on a regular basis to give encouragement, advice and help form the strategy to reach Norway with the gospel and see churches planted right across the nation.

The BIG Move!
June 21, 2011

Over the last year, Jubilee Church Hull has continued to experience the goodness of God and has grown to a stage where Jubilee House is simply unable to accommodate all that God would have us be and do in this city. The building has been a huge blessing to us, and we will be keeping it to continue our work in the community there. However, it has become increasingly clear that as a church we need to find a new home.
We have been searching for a new building for the last 18 months, and in that time we have visited many varied sites, from old cinemas and bingo halls to hotels and even industrial estates! As we have sought God’s guidance and direction we have felt increasingly led towards a city centre location. With this in mind we originally focused our energies on the Kwik Save building, which was owned by the City Council.
However, over time it became clear that this building would be very hard to acquire, and may not be the best option for us, and so we have began looking into the possibility of buying the Central Methodist Hall on King Edward Street. The total floorspace is over 16,000 sq feet with a large auditorium with balcony which seats around 700, a 200 seater multi-purpose hall, several large rooms, at least 10 offices, two shops, a 3-bedroom flat, a café and an old pub. Basically, it’s massive!
We felt it right to put in an offer for this building. The Methodist church have reacted favorably and we are awaiting further negotiations.Central Hall will provide for us everything we need in terms of space and although it needs some modernisation it is in a much more church-ready state to move into. We have since held two gift days to raise money to secure the deposit on a mortgage and to help us move in. The church has been incredibly generous in helping us to achieve that target.
We are thrilled that the existing Methodist church are not closing but looking to move on to more suitable premises and continue their mission in the City Centre. We pray we will all be blessed by our moves! We certainly can’t wait to move in and continue to grow the church and community activities. We hope to complete the purchase on 12 april 2012 and look to move many of our activities there in May.
Fantastic time at the beach
August 2, 2010
We all had lots of fun on our day trip to Bridlington this weekend. The whole church took a coach trip to the seaside and enjoyed the dry weather (hooray!), building sand castles, playing sports and eating fish and chips! Have a look at our photos in our online gallery.
Keep an eye on our upcoming events here.
Another Fantastic Fun Day!
June 1, 2010
We had our annual fun day last weekend on the 29th May. Although the weather wasn’t great we saw hundreds of people come through the doors and have a great time on all there was on offer. Activities included sumo suits, bouncy castles, reptile show, face painting, hair braiding, badge-making, BBQ and loads more!
We will have another of these events next year and hope you can join us! A massive thank you for everyone from the church who helped out it was another great event. Why not take a look at the pictures?
Faith Festival in Hull City Centre
June 1, 2010
On 23rd May Jubilee church Hull, along with lots of other local churches gathered in Queen Victoria Square to worship God and celebrate the birth of the worldwide church on Pentecost Sunday.
The weather was glorious as multiple congregations gathered to worship, pray and celebrate their Christian faith. The day featured information stalls, food and hand-made banners, as well as a Gospel presentation from our very own Steve Whittington.
Listen to a part of Steve’s preach
The day was put together by Hope+ who are an inter-church charitable trust that grew out of the working together of local churches through Hope 08 (Hull) – seeking to make the Good News of Jesus known to our communities in both word and deed. Its purpose is to provide a platform on which churches can come together to pray for this City region; to celebrate our faith together in the public arena; and to encourage local churches in reaching out together with practical demonstrations of the Gospel in their local communities. ‘Your Kingdom come, your will be done, here in Hull as it is in Heaven.’
The event was funded entirely by personal and church donations as we wanted it to be a free event so all could have the opportunity to attend. If you would like to contribute to our shortfall you can send a cheque made payable to ‘Hope08 (Hull)’ and sent to Revd. J. Taylor , Victoria Dock Vicarage, 22 Corinthian Way, Hull, HU9 1UF. Thank you.
