Fond farewell for our 3rd years

We are sad to see some of our 3rd years leaving this year now their degrees have come to an end. We also say goodbye for now to a few students who are taking a year abroad as part of their degree or those who were here in Hull for only a year. We will miss you all!

We are looking forward to the new term coming after the summer and have exciting plans to start a new student small group. We wish all our students a happy and restful summer and hope you are able to take time out with God. We look forward to welcoming you back in the new year. A great weekend had by all!

Our 18-30’s have just returned from an excellent weekend away at Cliff College in the Peak District. We heard some excellent teaching from Chris and Lisa Mason from Mosaic Church Leeds, a massive thank you to them and daughter Anya for joining us.

After learning about our security and identity in Christ we we’re incredibly blessed by God’s lavish presence on Saturday evening resulting in amazing prophetic contributions and spontaneous joyful worship. I encourage all who were there to maintain your joyfulness and bring it to church on Sunday!

Motivate: 18-30’s Weekend Away

On March 5th-7th 2010, Jubilee Church will be holding its first 18-30’s weekend. This is a chance for all our young adults to gather together for a weekend of fun, food, developing new friendships, worshipping and hearing inspiring teaching together.

We will be traveling down to our venue, Cliff College, on the Friday evening, and stay there til the Sunday afternoon. We have a guest speaker lined up for the weekend, Chris Mason from Mosaic Church in Leeds, as well as games, walks, and the opportunity to ‘grill an elder’!

The cost of the weekend is £55 inclusive of accommodation, food and transport if needed. Cheques made payable to Jubilee Church Hull. To book a place please pick up a booking form from church, or contact John or Abi Flavell. We hope you can come along, it’s going to be a great weekend.

Student Minibus Times

A big hello to all our returning student and an even bigger hello to any freshers we have met over the last few weeks.

We run a minibus for students that runs morning and evening to our services. The pick up points are as follows:

The Lawns car park 9.30am and 5.30pm
Needler Hall (northgate road) 9.40am & 5.40pm
Thwaite Hall Car park 9.45am & 5.45pm
Cranbrook ave (outside no. 15) 9.55am & 5.55pm
Newland Ave (outside planet coffee) 10.10am & 6.10pm

If you are at one of these places at the right time we’ll pick you up! We hope you can make it. If you are not able to be at one of these stops but still want to visit us - let us know 07723 055753.

Next week: we are having a special student service at the Lawns Centre (morning service only) - the minibus will be running in reverse so it will begin at Newland ave at 9.30am visit the normal stops and arrive at the lawns at 10.10am. We look forward to seeing you!

We’re giving out gifts on the Avenues!

On Wednesday 30th September the students at Jubilee Church will be welcoming new students to the Avenues area by giving out a free gift of washing up liquid and a scourer (essential university house equipment!). This is our way of saying welcome to the city, and hopefully giving us the opportunity to invite some students along on Sunday.

Exciting new term!

Soon we will be welcoming back our returning students and hopefully making room for lots of freshers. We have loads planned for the new term, so to keep you updated and fill you with eager anticipation we have posted some of the key dates below:

Sunday 27th September - Fresher’s Fair in the Student Union 10am – 4pm. We will also be walking down to Planet Coffee afterwards for a drink and then going on to the evening service.

Wed 30th September - Welcome gifts to Avenues Houses 7pm. We will be giving out free gifts to new residents of the Avenues. A great way to meet freshers and welcome them to the city.

Monday 5th October - CU Church Fair at the Union 7:30pm.

Friday 9th October - Pub Quiz @ The Lawns Centre. 8-10pm. Guaranteed fun!

Sunday 11th October - Student Service @ The Lawns Centre. 10:30am-12pm with lunch afterwards.

Wednesday 14th October - Launch of small groups led by Dave S & Laura D, Paul J & Jenny C. Whose group will you choose?

Plus student lunches begin in earnest every week in the first month and continuing after… we love to feed you! We are giving lifts to church every morning and evening so please let us know if you need one!

Welcome new students!

Calling all students… If you are about to become a student here is hull and are looking for a church we would love to meet you. Why not come along to one of our sunday services? Or try one of our mid-week small groups? Alternatively if you are already a student here in hull and have not yet settled in a church why not pop along and meet us?

We are a lively church with lots of fantastic students here already. We eat together, have fun together and learn about and grow in God together.

What’s on offer?

Student lunches/teas
Our excellent student lunches/teas will be starting up again every week for the first 4 weeks of term, and then regularly after this. They are a great opportunity to come along and meet other students as well as getting to know the student team and eat some great home cooked food. We’ll put the dates of these on our calendar so check back regularly!

Student socials
We organise regular student socials ranging anywhere between weekends away, to bowling trips, to cinema visits. Contact us for more details!

Student Small groups
Small groups are exactly what they sound like, a small group of friends meeting together to learn more about God and have fun! We are starting an additional student small group in October.

Student Weekend Away

On the weekend of the 20th-22nd March 2009, Jubilee Church took its students away for a weekend to the Westwood Centre, near Huddersfield. There was plenty of food, great accommodation, games, canoeing, and most importantly meeting with God. Everyone returned tired yet having had a great time together. Mobilise Student Conference 09

Mobilise Student Conference 7th-10th July, Brighton

Calling all Students and Twenties! Mobilise 09 Conference is now booking! If you book before the end of feb it is only £30!

Newfrontiers are committed to raising up leaders in this generation and equipping students and student workers to make a difference, both on the campus and in the church. To further this vision, they run Mobilise, a summer gathering in Brighton, UK of over 1600 students and twenties. This year they are believing for more than 2000 delegates.

It is a fantastic opportunity to gather with other students and worship God together - get great teaching and catch the wider vision of our church and student work. All who have been before heartily recommend it and it has been really significant in many of their lives! We are hoping to all go together so please let John, Abi or Ellen know if you are intending to go!

Student Lunches

That’s right our yummy student lunches are back! As a way to welcome our returning and any new students amongst us we put on a special lunch after church.

These are regularly on in the first term and more dates see the events calendar.
Turn up on the Sunday and we will give you a lift to the lunch venue.
