COVID-19

COVID-19 Update

On the 16th March 2020, the UK Chief Medical Officers and Government have released more precautions on the risk of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). This includes only travelling on public transport if necessary, avoiding social activities and avoiding events with large groups of people.

Due to the precautions announced we have made the decision to cancel all Jubilee Church gatherings including our Sunday services, prayer meetings and Growth Groups until further notice. This is not a decision we have taken lightly but feel it is necessary to keep our community safe and is the most loving thing to do in this circumstance.

Jubilee will continue to review the advice and guidance issued by the UK Chief Medical Officers and Government on a daily basis and will keep its church family informed by this website, our social media platforms, and by email.

For advice and guidance in relation to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) we would direct you to the Government website. For information in regards to what steps you can take to protect yourself, please review the guidance offered by the NHS.

Update 30th June

Making Jesus known in a time of crisis

Although we are not meeting as church at this, we know that does not stop us being church and although it will look different, we still have the opportunity to make Jesus known.

We believe God has called us to be a strong, vibrant multicultural church which represents Jesus to the people of this city and region. Our vision has been developed from the words written in the book of Isaiah 61:1-4 which Jesus quoted when he spoke of His calling in Luke 4.

We aim to be a church that is: Spirit Receiving, People Reaching, Potential Releasing and Community Restoring.

So how do we continue to do this while living under restrictions due to coronavirus?

Spirit Receiving

God is not limited to our Sunday morning services. He wants to empower us to follow and serve Him in every day life whether we are at home, at work or supporting those in need.

Although we won't be able to meet together on a Sunday we will be gathering online with a short message on our YouTube channel at 10.30am followed by a time of worship on Facebook Live. We will also be using our YouTube channel to send church updates and other talks as well as sharing a weekly blog on our website.

People Reaching

It would be easy in this moment for us to retreat but this is a great opportunity to show the love of Jesus to those around us. As a church let’s get creative in our serving of others. You could contact elderly neighbours, offer to help those in isolation or find others ways to serve our communities.

Potential Releasing

We want to continue to see all the gifts and talents that God has given us being used. The primary way this will happen is through our growth groups. Although we are not able to gather together as groups physically, we will providing growth groups with the tools to be able to keep connected online. This is also a chance for growth groups to really care for one another and truly be family (make phone calls, send encouragements, pray for one another).

If you are not part of a group then email info@notdull.org and we will connect you into a group.

Community Restoring

In moments like this we have the opportunity to show the hope we have in Jesus. We want to continue to serve our city and especially those in need during this time. To find out more about serving during this time please click here.

To summarise, 4 ways that we can continue to be Jubilee during this time:

  1. Engage with online material
  2. Find ways to serve your local community
  3. Be part of a growth group and keep connected online
  4. Serve at Jubilee Central (for those who are able)

The Church in action

Pastoral Care

This is a time for us to demonstrate that we are truly family. This is a difficult time for us all but some of us it will be particularly hard. If you are feeling alone or know of others who at risk of becoming isolated then please connect us at info@notdull.org or complete the form below and one of our team will contact you.

Children

It is important we continue to disciple our children during this time and provide opportunities for them to engage with Jesus. This is a great chance for families to engage spiritually together as we spend time praying, reading scripture and sharing devotionals. For a list of resources to help you spiritually engage with your children, please click here.

Youth

Our youth team are busy finding ways to stay in contact with our young people during this time. To find out more email youth@notdull.org

Prayer

We believe in the power of prayer and that God deeply cares for us and listens when we speak to him. During this time, prayer is so important so we read more about how you can pray, please click here.

Giving

It is vital for the financial viability of our church, and the welfare of staff employed by the church, that we continue to give generously financially through this period when we are unable to take a Sunday offering. If you are in the practice of giving cash or cheques on Sunday mornings, we would encourage you to consider switching to electronic giving.

You can read more about giving by clicking here and to start giving please visit our giving page.
