Church Planting

Our call to make Jesus known in Hull and the Nations

What is Church Planting?

At Jubilee we want to take the command that Jesus gave us, to “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matt 28:19) seriously. One of the key ways that we see the disciples following this command throughout the New Testament is in the planting of new churches; establishing gatherings of believers that are then able to reach their communities.

As a church, Jubilee has felt a particular call to see churches planted across our region and in the regions beyond us, in both the neighbourhoods and the nations.

As a church, we ourselves were planted when Steve and Jo Whittington arrived in the city after being sent in 2006 by Jubilee Church, Teesside.

We then planted our first church in 2016 when we sent a team of 25 adults and 8 children led by John and Abi Flavell to start River City Church in the east of our city. We have had the great joy to see the church grow and flourish and impact the city in many ways. You can read more about River City and their story visit www.rivercityhull.co.uk.

In February 2021, we planted our second church as we sent Josh and Jen Davies and a small team, to the north of the city to start Freedom Church Hull. Still in the early days, it has bene exciting to see how God has been using them to impact the local community with the good news of Jesus. You can find out more about Freedom Church by visiting www.freedomhull.org.

How Do We Church Plant?

As a family of churches, Regions Beyond is committed to see new churches established and we are working with Freedom Church towards planting many more churches in both locally and internationally in the years to come.

To equip future church planters, we have a number of training opportunities and all the details can be found at www.rbtraining.org.

Locally we are working in partnership with other local churches through a church planting initiative called Hull 2030.

Hull 2030 (www.hull2030.org) is a growing community of churches, working together to inspire and encourage church planting initiatives in our city, with the aim to see 20 new churches planted across Hull by 2030.
